The thing is, it is impossible to make everyone happy. Believe me, I have tried. I have seen the secondlife drama and even gone through a series of them. Drama is part of being human. Though it can get out of hand. I think without the drama, SL can be very boring and dull. We have to accept the fact that when we make a connection with a person, we are not entirely alike. We don’t think alike, our perspectives are different, our cultures are different. The virtual life gives us the chance to explore those differences as you interact with another avatar from another part of the world. We are bound to experience conflicts especially when we don’t see things from the same view. And of course, that very conflict can be the cause of drama in the virtual world. Since we are enveiled by the so called ‘screen’, things can easily get out of hand...the freedom of expression go pretty wild ending up people getting hurt beyond our expectation. We have forgotten that we are human and the person on the other side are human too.
Nowadays I spent a lot of my time reading people’s profiles. I found it amusing. Not stalking anyone in particular...just reading through them. I tried not to judge, but part of being the typical human, I tend to do so...though at the same time, I tried to understand them. Though, due to me being different from them, growing up from different surroundings, having to go through different experiences I realized that there are things that I can accept and others could not, and there are things that I could not accept, but others can. In the end, wheather I like it or not, I have to respect that person.
I had a conversation with a guy (sadly, the Mr N25 is not in my friends list anymore) about doing things that you dream of in sl without thinking the limitations that we have in our real lives. I have gone through a few phases in sl. but in the end I ended up asking myself...is that me? Yes, they are the things that I feel like wanting to try and did....but I have to finally admit, that’s not the real me. Sometimes, the boundaries can be what kept us to still be human at least that is to my own belief. You have no idea how far I went. I almost lost myself because of those freedom. You need freedom to actually live. But we still we have boundaries for reasons....as for me, it’s to keep me sane. Hahaha...I guess after all these discussions in my head....who I am in rl is who I am in sl. We can still be who we want to but, the morals and ethics of what kept us human can never change...we ARE human after all.
